LAWRENCE AND GILES COUNTIES NAMED PRIMARY NATURAL DISASTER AREAS
(JULY 24, 2014)  THE US DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HAS DESIGNATED LAWRENCE AND GILES COUNTIES AS PRIMARY NATURAL DISASTER AREAS DUE TO DAMAGES AND LOSSES CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE RAIN, FLOODING, WIND AND HAIL THAT OCCURRED FROM JUNE 5TH THRU JUNE 12TH.  THE NATURAL DISASTER DECLARATION WAS MADE WEDNESDAY AND IT MAKES ALL QUALIFIED FARM OPERATORS IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS ELIGIBLE FOR LOW INTEREST EMERGENCY LOANS FROM THE USDA'S FARM SERVICE AGENCY. FARMERS AND RANCHERS IN LEWIS, LINCOLN, MARSHALL, MAURY AND WAYNE COUNTIES IN TENNESSEE AND LAUDERDALE AND LIMESTONE COUNTIES IN ALABAMA ALSO QUALIFY FOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE BECAUSE OF THEIR PROXIMITY TO THE DISASTER DECLARED AREAS. FURTHER INFORMATION ON ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES IS AVAILABLE AT LOCAL U-S-D-A SERVICE CENTERS OR ONLINE AT DISASTER.FSA.USDA.GOV.
