GILES MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING TO KILL THE PRESIDENT
(JULY 23, 2014)  A GILES COUNTY MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING TO KILL THE PRESIDENT AND OTHER POLITICIANS.  ACCORDING TO MEDIA REPORTS, 45 YEAR-OLD JIMMIE JOHNSON OF ARDMORE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY SATURDAY.  AUTHORITIES INDICATE THAT JOHNSON LEFT HIS NAME AND PROFANITY-LACED THREATENING VOICE MAIL MESSAGES WITH THE STATE OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY ON JULY 11TH AND 12TH.  THE MESSAGES INCLUDED THREATS TO KILL PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MITT ROMNEY AND U-S REPRESENTATIVE PAUL RYAN.  COURT PAPERWORK INDICATES THAT THE SUSPECT ADMITTED TO MAKING THE CALLS.  JOHNSON WILL APPEAR IN COURT THURSDAY (TODAY) ON ONE CHARGE OF HARASSMENT ALONG WITH A 2012 D-U-I CHARGE.  HE IS BEING HELD IN A NASHVILLE JAIL ON 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND.
